Thirty Years of Excellence in Japan
They gathered, 85 strong, for a special celebration. Swagelok Japan Inc. (SJI), founded in 1976, commemorated its thirtieth anniversary on December 2.
Attendees ranged from SJI associates to Japanese distributors to business partners. They came together at the Kobe Bay Sheraton Hotel & Towers to toast SJI, look back at its history, and look ahead to the next 30 years.
For three decades, the Tokyo-based SJI has built a strong tradition as the regional distribution center serving Japan’s Swagelok® Independent Sales and Service Centers. Kazuo Koshiba, the 1st representative director of SJI and one of the founders of the company, gave a rousing speech that offered behind-the-scenes stories about SJI’s establishment.
Other speakers included Hans Goemans, Swagelok’s vice president of distributor support, and Jim Domingo, the 5th representative director of SJI. Goemans presented a plaque to SJI.
“Fred Lennon recognized that meeting customer challenges in Japan is critical to Swagelok’s success,” says Art Anton, Swagelok’s president and chief executive officer, who sent a message of congratulations that Goemans read at the party. “For 30 proud years, SJI has been providing solutions for customers and embodying the Swagelok way.”
