Automatic Orbital Welding Training Key to Meeting Growing Demand
Swagelok® Welder Training Program Enhances Understanding, Skills
 The Swagelok® welder training program is designed to provide welders, welding supervisors, and quality assurance and control personnel with a more thorough understanding of the orbital welding process and skills required to be proficient at this discipline.
The four-day course covers orbital welding principles, instructions for setup and operation of an orbital welding system, troubleshooting and a wealth of hands-on instruction. Topics covered include:
- Basic welding background information
- Basic metallurgy for orbital welding
- Tungsten electrodes
- Shielding and backing purge gases and procedures
- Setup and operation
- Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting
- Industry weld specifications
- Orbital weld evaluation
- A variety of weld procedures through hands-on orbital welding experience on applications from Micro-Fit® fittings to 4-in. diameter tubing.
All program instructors have earned Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) and Certified Weld Educator (CWE) qualifications, and have a minimum of five years experience in orbital welding instruction.
A theoretical and practical exam will be administered at the end of the program. A signed certificate of completion will be issued upon successful completion of the course. Also, an optional day of coursework is offered for participants who wish to test for ASME Section IX qualification, which can be used to fulfill quality control/assurance requirements for the participant's company.
