eBusiness Brief Video Transcript

Hi. I’m Mike Sprague. I’m a business development manager at Swagelok, and I’d like to talk to you about the eBusiness solution that’s available from your local sales and service center. Before we can do that, I need to speak a little bit about our business model. Swagelok does not sell directly to end customers, but rather through its network of independent sales and service centers. Let me show you what that looks like…

You are here, here, and here. This can be Europe, Asia, the United States. We’re there, too. In fact, we have over 200 offices in 57 different countries. These sales offices provide local sales and support for your sites. This is where our eBusiness solution comes in.

We see many customers creating central purchasing solutions that collect the demand from your individual sites. The reason you’re doing this is to reduce the number of suppliers to reduce your transaction cost.

We have a solution where we can take that demand and we send it to the Swagelok transaction center. That demand can be forwarded to the local sales office of your choice, still providing you local sales and service.

I like to think about eBusiness in two aspects. Informational and transactional. Informational eBusiness is where we provide product, part number, price, availability, CAD, sales drawings. We do that mostly from our dot-com web site. We can also support catalog extracts and allow you to load data directly into the purchasing system. Once you have that demand, you need to then take the demand as an order to our transaction center.

We support EDI and several flavors of XML. Once those orders come to our transaction center, we again, send them to the local sales and service center. They deliver the product at the local level. We support all transactions from purchase through pay.

These two aspects of our eBusiness program constitute our solution. In fact, we’ve got experience with over 400 integrated trading partners. So when you’re thinking about supplier integration, think Swagelok. For more information, contact your local sales and service center.
