Vending Machines Increase Security and Saves Money

The Problem: A large chemical company required assistance managing its inventory. The existing open inventory process lacked security and accountability. The customer needed a way to make parts readily available while maintaining a high level of security, learning when, where, and how often the products were used.

The Swagelok Solution: The local authorized Swagelok sales and service representative installed two vending machines in point-of-use areas at the facility. In addition, he instituted a vendor managed inventory program whereby Swagelok sales representatives check stock levels twice a week and restock as needed. Prior to removing components from the machine, technicians must swipe their ID badges, enter a pin number, provide a job number, and select components by stock number or part number.

The Benefit: The combination of vendor managed inventory and vending machines ensured that components were readily available and enabled the customer to maintain a higher level of security and accountability.
