Customer Adds Value by Promoting Use of Swagelok® Tube Fittings
The Problem: A manufacturer of laboratory fume hoods faced quality problems due to leaky fittings on the water flush system, which is critical to the efficient removal of fumes in the laboratory environment. An inexpensive “olive” style fitting was used, and because of the many reports of leakage the manufacturer was required to make multiple service calls.
The Swagelok Solution: The local authorized Swagelok sales and service representative met with purchasing representatives to demonstrate the features and benefits of the Swagelok®tube fitting. He explained the Swagelok Limited Lifetime Warranty and offered installation training for the manufacturer’s assembly workers.
Based on the Swagelok representative’s strong technical support and willingness to educate the customer, an order was placed for 30 000 B-600-1-6s; 15 000 B-600-8-6s; and 5 000 B-600-3s. Tube fitting installation training was then provided to the employees.
The Benefit:Several months after switching to Swagelok products, the customer has not received any requests for service calls to repair leaky fittings. Pleased with the performance, the customer is now promoting Swagelok fittings as a value-added feature when selling its product. To quote the company’s sales manager, "When I make a presentation and say that we use Swagelok tube fittings for our water flush system, I can immediately pick out all the technicians because I see them nodding in agreement.” |
