December 27, 2004 08:00 AM Eastern Time Swagelok Flaring System is a Major Improvement over Existing Tube-Flaring Technology
Swagelok Semiconductor Services Company (SSSC) introduces the new FTF 1000 plastic tube flaring system to flare the end of plastic tubing prior to installation with PFA fine thread flare type fittings. The Swagelok® flaring system provides consistent, well-shaped flares of 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 3/4, and 1 inch PFA and FEP tubing, which increase the reliability of plastic fluid systems by greatly reducing potential entrapment areas and ensuring a leak-tight connection. The flaring tool features a robust, patent-pending design making it easy to operate with minimal training required. In addition, the unit is portable and features much improved cycle times compared to other available flaring technologies.
Currently, a 120 V(ac) model for the U.S. and Japanese markets is available for sale. By providing consistent, well-shaped flares, Swagelok's FTF 1000 plastic tube flaring system is a major improvement for customers using existing cold and hot flaring technology, which fails to provide repeatable, well-formed tube ends. Inconsistent flaring results in poor mating of the tube-to-fitting connection, which can lead to installation difficulties, create large entrapment areas, and produce leaks.
