Swagelok DRP Series Valve Receives Prestigious Award for Innovation in Semiconductor Manufacturing

At the recent Semicon Europa tradeshow in Munich, Germany, Semiconductor International magazine presented Swagelok(R) Company with the prestigious Editors' Choice Best Product Award for the DRP™ series fluoropolymer diaphragm valve. This is the second major industry award the DRP series valve has received since its introduction. Last year, it received R&D magazine's R&D 100 Award, as one of the 100 most technologically significant new products or processes of 2003.
Meeting or exceeding SEMI Standard F57-0301 for ultrahigh-purity polymer system components, the Swagelok DRP series valve is designed for use in many applications, including aggressive CMP slurry, acid, chemical, and ultrahigh-purity DI water delivery systems. Its unique design helps minimize entrapment areas and enhances diaphragm performance. A hemispherical valve cavity and unique diaphragm shape enable rapid and thorough cleaning of all wetted surfaces. The modified PTFE diaphragm is optimized to minimize stress during cycling and promote durability, seal integrity, and long cycle life. In addition, the web thickness of the diaphragm has been maximized to reduce the potential for acid permeation.
"The 2004 Editors' Choice Best Products program is different from traditional award competitions in that products are nominated by users, not by the companies that make or sell the product," notes Semiconductor International Editor-in-Chief Peter Singer. "After products were nominated, we gathered additional information inputs from other users and from the product supplier. We ultimately based our decision on the superiority of the product in a semiconductor manufacturing environment."
