We are a supply house and would like to buy Swagelok products from you. Is that a problem?
We are an authorized distributor for Swagelok Company. The Swagelok distribution network is designed to serve the needs of the end users of Swagelok products. We are under contract to service those end users. When we sell our products to an individual or an organization other than an end user, it can be difficult to fulfill our service obligations.

Any individual or organization that has been designated by the end user as an entity through which it wishes to procure Swagelok products, will be permitted to purchase our products from us subject to the following stipulations:

  • A copy of the original purchase order from the end user to the entity handling the procurement must be obtained by our office prior to making any shipment of our products. The purchase order must include the part number, quantity and the ship to address of the end user.
  • If a copy of the order cannot be obtained, our office will make arrangements to drop ship our products directly to the end user. We will process all invoicing and paperwork through the non-user organization.

Some of the reasons for this policy are:

  • Our products may be improperly selected and/or specified.
  • The end user may not be fully aware of the proper installation procedures.
  • Interchanging or intermixing of parts must not be encouraged.
  • Failure to verify the end user can lead to severe penalties from the United States Government if they are found to be from prohibited countries, entities, or persons as found on the Bureau of Export Administration Website located at http://www.bis.doc.gov.
If you have any questions concerning this policy, please do not hesitate to call us at 989-835-3294.

What kind of warranty can I expect with Swagelok Products?

When you purchase a Swagelok product from us, it will be accompanied by what we want to be the strongest warranty in the industry, unmatched by any of our competitors, and speaks to our commitment to stand firmly behind any product carrying the Swagelok name. Please review the Swagelok Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Is it possible to purchase tubing in lengths shorter than 20 feet?
Yes. As a value-added service to our customers, we offer 5 and 10-foot lengths in most sizes as well as the standard 20-foot lengths. Many of our customers have realized the benefits of these shorter lengths, as they are easier to handle and take up less space in their facility. Best of all, unlike many tubing supply houses, we have no minimum order. We will be glad to sell you one 5 or 10 foot length of tubing if that is what you need. We package all of our tubing in a protective vinyl bag, and ship in heavy-duty cardboard containers.

What is a Swagelok Gap Inspection Gauge?
Swagelok gap inspection gauges assure the installer or inspector that the fitting has been sufficiently pulled up when installed, whether using a multihead hydraulic swaging unit (MHSU) or air-actuated hydraulic swaging unit (AHSU), or wrench-tightening. All metal Swagelok tube fittings are gaugeable, with the exception of a few forged bodies in aluminum.

Is it an acceptable practice to interchange/intermix fitting components with that of other manufacturers?
Over the years, we have become aware of many manufacturers with products which purport to be interchangeable and intermixable with Swagelok-designed products. We do not believe that any manufacturer can reliably, repeatedly and uniformly replicate the products of another manufacturer. For this reason, we believe that interchanging and intermixing components made by different manufacturers can result in unpredictable performance and increased costs. We believe that this is an unsound practice and can be dangerous in critical applications.

Fluid system components that will perform acceptably and consistently and withstand pressure, vibration and temperature changes depend on many variables; specifically, close tolerances and exacting quality control; in conjunction with a good design principle and robust manufacturing processes. Customers have told us that they value these features. We believe that when an installer interchanges or intermixes components that are different in design principle, dimensions or tolerances, the user is deprived of the predictable and consistent engineering and process controls that they expect.

For your reference we offer a technical article published by Mihsein and Seymour in the Journal of Engineering Design, December 1999, titled: “Intermixing twin ferrule tube fittings- is it safe?” They made cutaways of four manufacturer’s products and conducted a Finite Element Analysis based on 4000 measurements, comparing the pull-ups of each manufacturer’s fittings to intermixed and interchanged components. You may be interested in reading this article to help you formulate your own conclusions as they pertain to the question of interchangeability. We would be glad to provide you with a copy of the article.

    Can I visit your facilities?

Absolutely! We have a will-call counter where customers come in everyday to pick up orders and obtain technical help if needed. We will be more than happy to give you a tour of our facility and our Custom Solutions building. If you are interested, customer tours of Swagelok are also available. Please contact us if you would like more information on these various tours.
