Energy Management

Leakage costs industry hundreds of millions of dollars each year. The performance of any system carrying a gaseous or liquid medium is often difficult to guarantee.

Many large companies monitor oil leakage with a system that can accurately assess direct leakage costs. The Hydraulic Fluid Index (HFI) system compares hydraulic fluid use per year with the hydraulic fluid capacity of all hydraulic systems. An HFI as high as 11 have been reported in some plants where substantial leakage is tolerated. In addition to the cost of the oil, there are associated costs that can be spent on labor, downtime, clean up, product contamination, safety and fire hazards. Leaks cost money, big money!

Although compressed air is widely used throughout industry, many compressed air systems are not maintained and audited on a regular basis. Leaks in compressed air systems can contribute significantly to a facility’s cost of energy. Leaks cost money, big money!

When process gases, analyzer gases, nitrogen, helium, and hydrogen are considered, the cost of leakage alone can make the difference between profit and loss. Add to this the fire or explosion danger and the damage to quality of life. Add to this the cost of improperly calibrated or operating instruments that can result in off-spec product. Leaks cost money, big money!

We are prepared to offer you the manpower and resources to help you investigate the leakage in your facility. We can help add money to your bottom line by reducing energy costs.

Improve the performance of your steam systems with engineering audits, project management and training by Swagelok Energy Advisors (SEA) Inc.

Steam is a difficult fluid to hold because it is always at elevated temperatures and pressures can exceed 4000 psig. Steam leaks are particularly difficult because the erosive properties of steam usually make leaks grow larger with time. One large user of process steam has estimated a moderate steam leak to cost $8000/year, while a severe steam leak could cost as much as $26,000/year. Leaks cost money, big money!
